Austin Print Co. runs three in house Epilog fiber laser engraving units at the Cedar Park production facility. Fiber lasers produce permanent, high contrast marks on metal, anodized aluminum, stainless, brass, ceramic coated drinkware, and certain engineering plastics. Laser engraving sits on the same production floor as custom embroidery, screen printing, DTF printing, promotional products and corporate gifting, and sublimation.
Most Austin decorators either outsource laser engraving to a promo supplier or run a single entry level unit handling low volume. APC runs three Epilog fiber lasers simultaneously.
That matters for two kinds of work. High volume corporate drinkware programs — a 500 piece YETI rollout that would take a single machine shop two to three weeks runs through APC in days. And multi service programs where laser engraved drinkware ships alongside embroidered apparel and screen printed T shirts on the same production schedule.

Engraves exceptionally well — the laser burns through the anodized layer to reveal the underlying aluminum, producing a bright high contrast mark against the anodized color.
Powder coated drinkware and painted metal hardware engrave by removing the coating to expose the underlying material, producing high contrast without affecting durability.
YETI Ramblers, Hydro Flasks, and other ceramic coated tumblers engrave through the coating to the stainless underneath. Permanent and dishwasher safe.
ABS, polycarbonate, and certain acrylics mark cleanly. Most common consumer plastics do not. APC qualifies the substrate before production.

Timeline is set by the longest production method, typically embroidery or screen printing. Laser engraving runs in parallel so it does not extend the overall timeline.
Raw wood and paper require a CO2 laser, not a fiber laser. Glass etching and photo engraving on glass are not offered. Most consumer plastics, including polyethylene, polypropylene, and nylon, do not laser engrave cleanly. Regulated products requiring specific certifications, including medical device serialization under FDA unique device identification rules, are out of scope unless the buyer provides the certification framework. Firearms frame and receiver serial number marking is handled only for federally licensed manufacturers and requires FFL documentation.
Engraving removes more material and produces a deeper mark; etching produces a shallow surface mark. In commercial practice the terms are often used interchangeably. APC runs at the depth appropriate to the material and application.
No. Laser engraving is a permanent physical modification of the material surface. It cannot wash off, fade, or peel. Dishwasher safe on drinkware and outdoor durable on industrial tags.
Yes for most materials. APC requires a sample for test engraving before production runs on unfamiliar substrates, and will decline work on any substrate that cannot be laser engraved safely.
Yes. Recipient name personalization, serial numbering, and variable data production are standard workflows on the Epilog platform.
Both. APC supplies YETI, Stanley, Hydro Flask, RTIC, Corkcicle, and other common drinkware brands at standard wholesale promotional pricing. Customer supplied drinkware is also engraved at a decoration only rate.
Vector artwork in AI, EPS, PDF, or SVG is preferred. High resolution PNG or JPG can be vectorized in house for an additional fee.
Drinkware minimum is typically 24 pieces. Award minimum is typically 10 pieces. Industrial tag minimum is typically 50 pieces. Smaller runs are considered case by case.
Color engraving on stainless and titanium requires a MOPA fiber laser configuration. APC handles certain color marking applications, qualified project by project based on substrate and color requirement.
